PATRICIA MURPHY

Pat Murphy started her insurance career in 1978 by beginning to work for the Farmers Insurance Group, in Southfield, Michigan. In her initial capacity as a claims representative she was responsible for investigating and negotiating personal injury claims, auto theft, property claims as well as workers’ compensation claims.

In 1984, and then again in 1987, Pat received promotions within the claims department. Her second promotion elevated her to the position of Branch Claims Manager, wherein she managed all aspects of a multi-line branch claims office. This included, but not limited to developing and implementing strategic business plans, technical and business training, as well claims vendor quality standards development. She also was responsible for the adjustment, reserving and settlement of multi-line claims of both a commercial and personal lines nature.

In 2002 Pat began working for the Progressive Insurance Company. Once again her duties included the management of a multi-line claims office. In particular she was responsible for the supervision, compensation and management of technical and support claims staff assigned to investigate, adjust and reserve personal injury claims.
